I know someone out there can give me some info on the leg of the FT leaving 329 from the bridge heading south towards sopchoppy. I have been to the USFS and they don't have the maps. what I need to know is how far it is to the opposite trail head for a through hike and if it actually goes into sopchoppy.

Thanks.

It doesn't go into Sopchoppy, It does go near Medart 14.5 miles past the FR 329 bridge. There are numerous Forest roads that can break that hike up into more manageable day hikes, like FR 343 (4.6 miles south of FR 329 Trailhead) which has a parking area. I would advise going to the Florida Trail Association website and buying the FT Data Book and Map 9&10. It has all the trailheads, water, camping, etc. for that entire stretch.

thanks Matt, I will try that. I appreciate you responding, I had given up and haven't even looked at the site since late march because it doesnt seem to be very active but I was glad to get the email notification there was activity.

Thanks again Matt and happy cruising.

You said that the site seemed to be inactive.  I'm trying to fix that a small bit by posting the GPX files for any hikes I do into the woods.  Should make the site a bit useful for the techo-hikers out there.

Also, hiking in Florida in the summer just ain't fun for most people, so any discussions of hiking in Florida tend to slow down in the summer.

Good point !!! our last hike was in March and canoe camping was over in early June. it didn't get cool enough to sleep until around midnite. we camped with the scouts last weekend and it was just about perfect.
