I have recently purchased a Canon EF S18-200 mm and have not had the results I was hoping for as far as scenic photographs along the trail. I am new to the DSLR camera and I am sure it is user error. Someone suggested I use the polarized lense covers. Do these make that much of a difference when shooting outdoors?
A polarized filter is good for making images "pop". An example of this would be shooting a picture of a cloud against a blue sky.The ploarizing effect will make the cloud stand out more. A polarized filter is fine to use on sunny, bright days.I would otherwise just stick to a UV filter which are inexpensive, and will block out most sun glares. It is also cheap insurance for an expensive lens....It is easier to replace a $12 filter than a more expensive lens....Also, have you tried setting your camera to the scenic mode? ( this is the mountain picture on your main dial)This mode will help keep everything in focus.
Tia, I have a problem with the light washing out the picture when you have the sun streaming through the trees. I was hoping the filter would take care of some of that.
