My Florida Hikes

Sharing the best of Florida hiking

We spotted this Florida Panther while working a wildfire just South of the Bithlo Towers and had to get it on film for my son. It's not the greatest video because we were working the fire and could not take a lot of time to set up a better shot, but you should still see it anyway.

I have seen one in Canaveral National Seashore fishing in the State Park on Mosquito Lagoon. I did not have a camera ready due to being packed in the tackle box in the trunk of the car when we were leaving. I would let Florida Game and Fish know about its whereabouts. I am sure they have the cat tracked. That is really awesome knowing they are surviving in populated areas.

We found it just North of SR 50 & 520 near the Bithlo Towers. (The Giant 1500' towers)

Wow! Was that in Hal Scott Preserve? Hadn't thought about panthers being that close to Orlando, although they do have a few in captivity at nearby Jungle Adventures in Christmas.
